5 Weeks Pregnant: Transforming And Transitioning
When a woman is only 5 weeks pregnant, there is barely a bump that they would be able to notice while standing in front of a mirror or when they touch their bellies. There are some women who would only realize their pregnancy at this point. In a number of cases, this is the only time when a woman would experience nausea and what is called morning sickness. To some, this is also the beginning of a period of craving for certain food items. There are also some women who would begin adjusting to the overflowing hormones that their body produces to cope with the pregnancy requirement. There are many changes that will happen in the next few weeks.
The embryo that is inside your womb would not look anything like a human being when you are only 5 weeks pregnant. However, this is the time when their little hearts begin to develop. They will appear to be elongated and a thin line will appear on one side. This is the beginning of the spine’s formation that will later on become stronger and eventually become the root for the brain. At this time, it is important that you become weary of what you eat. Whatever you take in, your child will eventually be able to absorb it through the placenta. It is a very delicate moment. This is the best time to take the necessary precautions to be able to avoid the possibilities of miscarriages, birth defects or other complications to both the mother and child.

To some women, pregnancy can sometimes be scary the same way that it could be magical. During the first few weeks, expectant mothers become weary of how their child develops and if they are at risk of any medical conditions. This is why most prenatal checkups begin when a woman is 10 weeks pregnant.
During this period, the doctor would need to know the medical history of both the expecting mother and father. This will give them a better basis to identify if a child would be at risk of acquiring any genetic condition when they are born. This is also the time that they will be conducting a number of tests on the mother to see how well they are coping to the changes.
When a woman is 10 weeks pregnant, the child’s vital organs have already developed and are now beginning to function. However, this is still the time when the brain is continuously developing throughout the term. At this point, the fingers and the toes have already separated and the tail has disappeared. This is also the time when the child develops the proper testosterone hormones for boys through their testes. The fetus will no longer look like a ball of embryo at this time, as they will now take on a distinctive human form. Some medical experts believe that exposing yourself to classical music will also be able to help in your child’s mental development as this is the time when they absorb everything they can while their brains are in the process of development.
