Bamboo Blinds For Your Home

One of the really hot trends in blinds these days is the growth in sales of bamboo blinds. They’re perfect for people who are looking for something a little bit more exclusive for their windows, as well as those who are looking for something that will fit in with an natural, or oriental design.

One of the best uses for bamboo is for outdoor blinds, perhaps on a porch. Because they are made of such delicate, natural materials, they really fit in with the trees and foliage outside of your house, and bring out nature’s best features.

Bamboo is a practical material for window blinds, too. Because it’s hollow, it’s actually a really durable, really strong and really flexible material, which can really prove long lasting. This means that your blinds will last longer, and look better for longer. And, over the years, this can save you a lot of money, because you don’t need to rush out and buy replacement blinds too soon.

Because they’re made of a natural material, and because bamboo is so thin, it can’t be cut to regular sizes in the same way as something like wood can be cut. As a result you’ll find that bamboo blinds let in the light a bit more than wooden blinds, because the irregular shape of the bamboo sticks means that gaps exist for light to get in to your house. But, although they aren’t always the best way to ensure a proper blackout, many people like this, as it gives a very soft natural light to any room, which can be very relaxing.

As well as being a great option for the home, and an even better option for outdoor porches, bamboo blinds are an excellent choice if you have a large sun room or conservatory that you would like to decorate. They’re particularly good in this type of room because they keep out most of the really intense sunlight, while at the same time, letting enough light through to ensure that you can go about your day to day business without feeling that you are trapped in the twilight zone. Do bear in mind, though, that they because of their gaps, they won’t keep out all sunlight. This means that they may not be the best choice if you have expensive furniture in your sun room that you want to protect from fading at all costs. If that’s the case go for something with proper reflective backing, rather than bamboo blinds which are more suitable for their design features rather than for their practical features.

Nicholas Jensen recommends bamboo blinds as an excellent choice for oriental themed homes. They are a wonderful mid-price alternative to faux wood blinds.
