How to Build Shelving Brackets in 6 Easy Steps

1. There is an infinite variety of style when it comes to shelving brackets. Designers usually use ornate shaped brackets to dress up their shelves. The first step to make is to lay a 2×8 any elevated flat surface. Hook the tape measured at one end of board, at the top corner, and put a mark 8 inches down. Lay the level diagonally across the board up to the bottom end corner. Draw along the level a triangle line to form a triangle.

2. Cut this diagonal line using a circular saw while holding the board’s edge and repeat the process on its other end to form two triangular pieces.

3. Lay one of these triangles face up and make two marks on its angled side. Use a driller and make a 1/2inch drill and drill down at the marks. Do not go all the way down, but stop 2 inches before it.

4. Switch the drill to 1/8inch drill bit and insert it into the 1/2-inch holes and start drilling down. This should leave you with two ½ inch holes on one side and repeat the process.

5. Using a ruler and pencil, draw a line on the wall where you want the shelving brackets to go. A stud inside the wall or a hammer to screw in a long nail at different locations to make the shelving brackets secure.

6. Put one of the brackets parallel to one of the horizontal lines, where the long straight edge points against the wall and the short edge extending out vertically at the top line. Screw down the upper and lower part of the hole and repeat the whole process for the second bracket.
