The Honda Accord is one of the most popular cars in the United States today and it only makes sense that if Honda is going to create a more environmentally friendly vehicle, they will be choosing this model for such a purpose. The result is the Honda Accord Hybrid.
The hybrid version was first offered for the 2005 Accord models and has been continuous up to the 2010 Accord version.
The engine of the Honda Accord Hybrid is more fuel efficient than its normal commercial counterpart. Its engine still has the displacement of a V6 engine but with more fuel efficiency features to please those who want the luxury of a bigger car with less of the gas consumption. The Accords engine can shut off 3 of its 6 cylinders using a technology which Honda has dubbed as Variable Cylinder Management (VCM).
The normal fuel economy estimate is within the 25 mpg range which is already quite impressive for a car of its class. It is among the higher weight class recognized by the United States Environmental Agency for its fuel efficiency mileage tests.
The Honda company has announced that there will be no future hybrid versions of the Accord as it already has a successor because of the new Honda FCX Clarity.
The Honda Accord Hybrid is a great choice for those who want their cars big, as this hybrid version is longer than its normal counterpart. It might already fall into the semi luxury category which makes such a hybrid car attractive to even more sophisticated car buyers.
