Keep calm. Whatever caused you tooth to get chipped has already happened and panicking about it may only make matters worse. Instead of panicking, check if you have any other injuries that may be more serious than what happened to your tooth. If so, take care of those other injuries first. Call 911 if necessary.
If you have checked for other injuries and find none, the next thing you have to do is to locate the chipped tooth. As soon as you identify it, assess the degree of damage. If the chip is very minor, you can set-up an appointment to have your dentist smooth out the edge. In case of a very large damage, the best first aid is to clean the tooth gently in a milk and water solution.
The next thing you have to do is to go to your dentist. For the best chance of saving your tooth, make sure that you can get to your dentist within an hour of having your tooth chipped. Your dentist can then determine the best course of action and advise you accordingly. For your own peace of mind, always remember that there are a variety of ways to save a chipped tooth and it is really nothing to worry about.
